Distinguishing Characteristics

• Plants generally decumbent to prostrate. Nutlets smooth with a keel on back near the tip. Sepals generally much longer than nutlets and often turned to one side.
   
• Compare with Plagiobothrys stipitatus var. micranthus which also has smooth nutlets, but is delicate and upright.

Habitat(s)

• Vernal pools, especially slightly alkali ones. Usually not a dominant species.

Additional Information

• Native. Occurs from Alaska to Mexico where it occurs on mesic alkaline clay soils.
